A report from the University of Sheffield in collaboration with the Department of Health and Social Care, revealed a significant increase in throat cancers in England between 2013 and 2020, with diagnoses rising by 47%.
In 2020 there were over 10,000 new cases and more that 3,000 deaths.
The study also highlighted socioeconomic disparities, noting that individuals in the most deprived areas were twice as likely to develop these cancers compared to those in wealthier regions.
