Prevention and early diagnosis are two of the most important tools we have when it comes to saving lives, for those affected by throat cancers. When detected and referred early enough we see survival rates as high as 95%.
Too often, people either ignore or dismiss the warning signs, leading to a later-stage diagnosis. This ultimately means more aggressive chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment and in some cases, life-changing surgical intervention.
Like other successful nationwide awareness campaigns, such as breast or lung cancers, the general public must be made more aware of the signs of throat cancer…and get them checked out before it is too late.
