Full JCVI statement: extending the vaccination programme to boys

Following the threat of a legal challenge by the Throat Cancer Foundation, and a robust awareness campaign with others, the Joint Committee for Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) finally decided on the 18th of July to extend the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination programme to include boys.

We had warned them for several years that it was discriminatory and illegal under the Equality Act 2010 to exclude boys from being protected against HPV as full protection was already offered to girls.

The full statement the JCVI can be found here JCVI Statement on HPV vaccination 2018.
