What a week of progress it’s been. On Sunday, I completed in my first ever official running event. Albeit it was just a 5K, but experiencing the atmosphere of a race day for the first time has got me feeling a mixture of emotions. On the plus side, I managed to break my personal best running the distance in 30m 34s – which I was really proud of. In the picture you can see me showing off my new medal!
But I can’t lie, as I was running along I couldn’t help but let my mind wander to the big day. I think it might have been running on a mapped out route with barriers either side of me, but I couldn’t help but feel overwhelmed at how many people there will be in London…the whole way.
During the rest of my training, I have managed to hit the hour mark which I can’t quite believe. I don’t think there’s ever a time that I finish a run that I don’t remind myself of how far I’ve come. Each run is a personal win and that’s what I need to remember as I attempt to increase my distance even more over the next couple of weeks.
This is important as I have signed myself up for a half marathon at the start of March. Let’s hope my legs hold out to help me achieve this next challenge!
Until next week!
