David McCabe is Finance Director and a Trustee of the Throat Cancer Foundation, bringing deep commercial experience, financial oversight and operational discipline to the charity’s leadership. He has been involved with the Foundation since its inception, following its establishment by Jamie Rae, and has played an important role in helping support and shape its development.

David studied at the University of Stirling, where he gained an honours degree in Marketing and Human Resources. In 1999, he co-founded a mobile phone and print cartridge business with Jamie Rae and helped build it from the ground up into a highly successful international operation with an annual turnover of more than £15 million before the business was sold in 2011.

As Operations Director, David oversaw the company’s growth and expansion across the Republic of Ireland, France, Italy and the USA, helping turn an entrepreneurial start-up into a major player in its field. The business was also a pioneer in the mobile phone recycling sector, with David helping initiate and deliver recycling programmes for major organisations including O2.

Alongside its commercial success, the business developed a strong charitable focus, working with more than 100 leading charities, including CHAS, Marie Curie, Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and the RSPB. Over a 12-year period, that work helped raise more than £16 million for charity partners.

Today, David’s main focus is in property and the running and management of retail operations, adding further practical business and financial experience to his role within the Foundation. At the Throat Cancer Foundation, he brings a combination of financial control, commercial realism, growth experience and long-standing loyalty to the organisation’s mission.
